Mazıdağı (formerly Şamrah , Kurdish Şemrex ) is a city and at the same time the name of a district in the Turkish province of Mardin in southeastern Anatolia . The city of Mazıdağı has 10,436 and the district 33,184 inhabitants (as of 2010). Mazıdağı is located in the north of the province and borders the Diyarbakır Province .

The name Mazıdağı means mountain of the trees of life . This refers to the abundance of the tree of life , a cypress plant , in the region.
