Artuklu is the central county and district of the city of Mardin in southeastern Turkey . Artuklu was founded in 2012 through the creation of a mayor's office for the city of Mardin. After a legislative reform in the same year, all municipalities in the Mardin province are subordinate to the mayor of the metropolitan municipality (tr: Büyükşehir belediyesi ) Mardin.

The name is derived from the Turkish dynasty of the Artukids , who ruled the region from the 12th to the 15th centuries.
