Louis "Louie" Vito (born March 20, 1988 in Columbus ) is an American snowboarder . He starts in the halfpipe discipline .

Career

Vito has been taking part in the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour competitions since 2002 . He drove his first FIS World Cup race in February 2003 in Turin , which he finished in 48th place. He won silver at the 2005 Snowboard Junior World Championships in Zermatt . In January 2006, he also won silver at the Winter X Games 2006 in Aspen . In the 2006/07 season he finished second at the Burton New Zealand Open in Snow Park , and at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix at Mount Bachelor and in Tamarack . At the beginning of the 2007/08 season he came in second at the Australian Open on Mount Hood . At the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Tamarack in Killington (Vermont) he achieved his first victories. In the following season he won the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Copper Mountain and came second in Boreal. In March 2009 he achieved his first podium finish in the FIS World Cup with second place in La Molina . In the 2009/10 season he finished second at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Copper Mountain and Mammoth . In his first Olympic participation in Vancouver in 2010 , he came in fifth. In March 2010 he won bronze at the Winter X Games Europe 2010 in Tignes . A week later, he took second place at the Burton US Open in Vail . At the beginning of the 2010/11 season he finished third at the Burton New Zealand Open in Cardrona . This was followed by victories at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Copper Mountain and the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and in Killington. At the Winter X Games 2011 he won bronze. In March 2011, he took third place at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Mammoth . In the same month he won gold at the Winter X Games Europe 2011 . In the 2011/12 season he won the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Mammoth and the Winter Dew Tour in Snowbasin . He came second at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix in Copper Mountain , the Winter Dew Tour in Breckenridge and Killington and the Burton US Open in Vail . In February 2012 he took bronze at the 2012 Snowboard World Championships in Oslo . At the Winter X Games Europe 2012 he won silver. She finished the season in second place in the tour halfpipe rating. In January 2013, he came third in the FIS World Cup race in Copper Mountain . He finished third at the 2013 Burton US Open in Vail . At the subsequent Winter X Games Europe 2013 he won gold. At the Winter X Games 2014 , he won silver. The following year he came 14th at the Winter X Games 2015 . At the X-Games Oslo 2016 , he came in fifth. In the 2016/17 season he was sixth at the Winter X-Games 2017 and eighth at the Snowboard World Championships 2017 in Sierra Nevada . In February 2017 he took third place at the US Snowboarding Grand Prix and World Cup in Mammoth .
