Mazen Mawtan al-Yasen ( Arabic مازن الياسين, DMG Māzin al-Yāsīn ; * July 8, 1996 ) is a Saudi sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Mazen al-Yasen gained his first experience in international championships in 2013 at the World Youth Championships in Donetsk , where he was eliminated in the semifinals over 400 meters with 46.99 seconds. He then reached the final at the Islamic Solidarity Games in the 200-meter run , but was disqualified there. The following year he won the silver medal at the Junior Asian Championships in Taipei in 47.40 s and thus qualified for the Junior World Championships Eugene , where he was eliminated with 47.85 s in the first round. At the IAAF World Relays 2015 in the Bahamas, he retired with the Saudi 4 x 400 meter relay with 3: 06.15 minutes in advance. He then retired from the Asian Championships in Wuhan with 47.92 s in the first round and won the silver medal behind the team from Qatar in 3: 02.62 min. In October he took part in the Military World Games in Mungyeon , South Korea , but was eliminated in the first round with 49.29 s.

In 2017 he won the silver medal behind Yousef Karam from Kuwait at the Arab Championships in Radès in 46.76 seconds and won the bronze medal behind the teams from Algeria and Oman in the relay in 3: 08.23 minutes. At the end of September he won the silver medal behind Katari Abdalelah Haroun at the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat with a new Saudi indoor record of 46.35 seconds . Two years later he won the bronze medal behind the Bahraini Abubakar Abbas and Karam from Kuwait at the Arab Championships in Cairo in 47.56 s . He then took part again in the Asian Championships in Doha and was eliminated there with 48.24 s in the first round. With his services he also qualified for the first time for the World Championships in Doha, where he reached the semi-finals , in which he was eliminated with 46.11 s. He then won the silver medal behind the Bahraini Abbas at the Military World Games in Wuhan in 46.24 s and made it to the finals with the relay, where it did not start.
