history

Around 1862–1863, the French colonial administration first became aware of the village of Mboro. After investigations of the terrain and the soil, it was decided in 1936 to open up the area for fruit and horticulture and to promote the settlement of this fertile area.

On the Grande Côte, especially around Mboro, the coastal dunes were stabilized with Canadian support by planting filao ( horsetail casuarines ) and protected from erosion by the sea winds.

The place Mboro received the legal status of a commune (city) in 2002 .
