Mehrum is one of the oldest parts of the city of Voerde (Lower Rhine) in the Wesel district , North Rhine-Westphalia . Mehrum is located on the right bank of the Lower Rhine and has 437 inhabitants.
The former aristocratic residence Haus Mehrum is located in Mehrum . It gained importance in the Second World War when the 9th US Army crossed the Rhine in Mehrum at river kilometer 803.5 on the night of March 23rd to 24th, 1945 , thus reaching the right bank of the Rhine for the first time ( Operation Plunder ).
