Meibom
Meibom is the name of a Lower Saxon family that has produced important scholars over generations . Originally from Osnabrück , the family spread via Alverdissen , especially in Helmstedt , Lübeck and Hanover .
history
origin
The documented line of the family begins with Hermann Meybaum , documented 1475–1511, citizen of Osnabrück . His descendants, Heinrich Meibom the Elder (1555–1625), who was born in Alverdissen and professor of poetry and history at the University of Helmstedt , was given the hereditary nobility on July 9, 1590 as poeta laureatus . His son was the important doctor Johann Heinrich Meibom (1590–1655), who had received a professorship in Helmstedt in 1620, but turned his back on the city five years later because of the Thirty Years' War and settled in Lübeck . His son was the equally important physician Heinrich Meibom the Younger (1638–1700), who had his chair in Helmstedt. The sons of Heinrich the Younger were the famous pathologist and botanist Brandan Meibom (1678–1740) and Hermann Dietrich Meibom .
Karl Hugo Weizsäcker (1853–1926), the last Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Württemberg, had been married to Paula von Meibom (1857–1947) since 1879 . Together they became the first parents of the von Weizsäcker barons .
