Milestone (Nessa, mile 27)

Prussian all-mile obelisk near Nessa

The whole milestone near Nessa is a small monument in the town of Teuchern in the Burgenland district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The whole milestones between Weißenfels and Gera are all 2.8 kilometers away from the historical road situation. The background to this unusual constellation, in which the half-mile stone is close to the north instead of 3.7 kilometers away, is a later relocation of the obelisks, which can also be seen from the fact that the stones are on the other side of the street, which contradicts normal customs.

While the Prussian mile was 7.532 kilometers and the road historically stood in the context of the connection Berlin - Halle (Saale) - Weißenfels and Giebelroth on the Thuringian border, the market in Weißenfels was now chosen to be zero. The Prussian Staatschaussee originally had its zero point at Dönhoffplatz in Berlin. According to the inscription, this is 27 miles away, which would correspond to 203.3 kilometers had it not been implemented. The other inscriptions are now Zeitz 2 1/5 mile and Weißenfels 1 mile . Originally this was Zeitz 2 miles and Weißenfels 1/2 mile .

For years the listed obelisk lay in the ditch at the half-milestone of Nessa , but at the beginning of the 21st century it was renovated and re-erected. He also received a plastic eagle plate in 2003. A bench made of a lighter material than the current stone could be seen in the ground, which is an indication that it was destroyed earlier and replaced by a copy. In 2010, the stone was dismantled to widen the road on federal highway 91 and placed a few meters further east. In monument directory is distance stone with the number 094 66135 as a monument detected at Wernsdorf.
