John Thomas Kidd

John Thomas Kidd (also Thomas J. Kidd ; born August 28, 1868 in Athlone , Simcoe County , Ontario , † June 2, 1950 ) was a Canadian Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of London (Ontario) .

Life

John Thomas Kidd was ordained a priest in Rome on February 16, 1902 .

On February 6, 1925, he was named Bishop of Calgary . He was ordained bishop on May 6 of the same year by the Apostolic Delegate in Canada, Archbishop Pietro di Maria , co-consecrators were the Archbishop of Toronto Neil McNeil and the Archbishop of Ottawa Joseph-Médard Émard . On July 3, 1931 he was transferred to the episcopal see of the Diocese of London (Ontario) .

Services

In 1947, John Thomas Kidd ran a successful fundraising campaign in his diocese that resulted in the diocese being debt free upon his death.
