Meinrad Belle

Meinrad Belle (born July 18, 1943 in Philippsburg ; † December 4, 2015 ) was a German politician ( CDU ). From 1975 to 1990 he was mayor of the Brigachtal community in the Schwarzwald-Baar district and from 1990 to 2002 a member of the German Bundestag .

Life

Belle attended elementary school in Philippsburg, then the higher commercial school in Bruchsal, which he left in 1960 with the completion of secondary school. He then trained as a judicial officer in the state of Baden-Württemberg until 1963. Then he worked in the state's higher justice service until 1974, most recently as manager of the local court and the Villingen-Schwenningen prison .

Belle joined the CDU in 1974. In 1975 he was elected mayor of the Brigachtal community. In 1990, the year he was elected to the Bundestag, he resigned from this post. From 1978 to 1994 he was also deputy chairman of the municipal political association Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis. From 1979 to 1990 he was a member of the district council of the Schwarzwald-Baar district. In the Bundestag election in 1990 he was able to prevail in the constituency of Schwarzwald-Baar with 53.6% and thus achieved the direct mandate. Since summer 2000 he has been chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the interior committee of the German Bundestag and since September 2000 vice president of the German Association of Towns and Municipalities. He did not run for the 2002 Bundestag election , and Siegfried Kauder was his successor in his constituency .
