Meinrad Scheller

Meinrad Scheller (born May 17, 1921 in Zurich ; † April 24, 1991 ) was a Swiss Indo-Europeanist .

Life

He studied in Zurich with Manu Leumann , Julius Pokorny and Ernst Risch and in Paris . After graduating as Dr. phil. in Zurich in 1948 and habilitation there in 1959, he was professor in Freiburg im Üechtland from 1963 , professor in Munich from 1968 to 1975 and professor of general linguistics in Zurich from 1975 (until the end of the 1980s). His interests also included Greek , Sanskrit, and Hindi .
