Bardhyl Demiraj
Bardhyl Demiraj (born March 29, 1958 in Tirana , Albania ) is an Albanian Albanologist . Since 2001 he has held the corresponding chair at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .
Life
Bardhyl Demiraj was born in 1958 in the Albanian capital Tirana. In 1976 he finished school with the Abitur and then studied Albanology and Romanian from 1977 to 1981 at the University of Tirana , where he was awarded the degree of Magister in 1982 . He wrote his master's thesis in the field of the Romanian-Albanian language comparison. He then stayed in the Albanian capital as a doctoral student and became a candidate for science in 1989 (subject: historical development of numerals in Albanian). He has been a doctor of science since 1994. From 1982 Bardhyl Demiraj was also active at the Albanian Academy of Sciences . In 2001 he was appointed Professor of Albanology at the Institute for Comparative and Indo-European Linguistics and Albanology at LMU Munich.

Professor Demiraj has a wide range of scientific interests, including research on Gjon Buzuku's Missal (the first book printed in Albanian), Albanian numerals and the phonology of Albanian. In addition to monographs and other works, 74 scientific articles are listed on the LMU Munich website.
