Melchior Siegel the Younger (born July 1, 1613 in Platten ; buried July 16, 1689 there ) was a Bohemian local politician . He was a city ​​judge , councilor , weigher , mountain jury and church leader of Platten.

Life

Melchior seal d. J. came from the widely ramified pewter smelters Siegel, which originally came from Eibenstock . His parents were the tin smelter and city judge Melchior Siegel d. Ä. (* 1590 in Platten; † 1658 ibid) and his wife Maria.

During the time of the Counter Reformation , he and other Plattner citizens were declared exiled and expelled from the country on October 10, 1653 . He was one of the first seven people who "escaped" on the fasting mountains. As an exile , he was a co-founder of Johanngeorgenstadt , where he stayed for a while until he "fell away" from his faith, returned to Platten and converted to Catholicism . In 1662 he was named in the registers as a weighed lord and head of the church and in 1664 as a councilor and mountain sworn. In 1674 he held the office of city judge. When the church tower collapsed on May 14, 1672 , he had the old sacristy repaired with his own funds and donated a black cloth to the church that hung in front of the altar during Lent .

He died in 1689 at the age of 75. A sung spiritual office was held for him . His brother was the citizen and shoemaker Samuel Siegel who also exiled to Johanngeorgenstadt.

Melchior Siegel married Barbara Auerswalt in 1636 in Neudek and Catharina Beer in 1650 in Platten. The following children are known from the first marriage:
