The Mellitzbach is a brook in the municipality of Virgen ( Lienz district ). It rises on the south side of the Frosnitzkamm and flows south of Virgen-Dorf into the Isel .

The Mellitzbach rises on the south side of the Frosnitzkamm between the one between the Pegömlspitze , the Bretterspitze and the Waldköpfl. In the west lies the catchment area of ​​the Firschnitzbach , in the east that of the Mitteldorfer Bach . The Mellitzbach flows from its source to the south, initially through areas with little vegetation and meadows, in the middle reaches through wooded stretches. In the middle course is at around 1450  m above sea level. A. meters of a gravel stretch that was used for the erection of an embankment barrier. In the lower reaches of the Mellitzbach happens when Taleintritt into Virgen Valley , the castle ruins Rabenstein the west and the Upper Sonnberg in the West and then flows through the village Mellitz and the main village of Virgen where the creek the Virgen Valley main road passes under. Subsequently, the Mellitzbach flows through agricultural areas and flows south of Virgen-Dorf on the left into the Isel.
