Mensur Kurtiši (born March 25, 1986 in Hotlane near Kumanovo ) is a North Macedonian football player with Austrian citizenship.

Career

The striker came to Austria at the age of 13 and began his footballing career with the SK Rapid Wien youth team immediately after his arrival . There he was able to quickly put himself in the limelight, which is why he was accepted into the Rapid Amateurs squad at the age of 17. In the Vienna City League (fourth level), he was able to impressively prove his dangerousness and was elected striker of the season in 2004/05. In the professional team Rapids Kurtiši was only used in friendly matches. After Kurtiši was just as successful in 23 games during the season, he signed his first professional contract for the first division in the summer of 2006 with SC-ESV Parndorf in 1919 . There, too, he was able to prove his scoring skills with 24 goals in 47 games. In the spring of 2008, Kurtiši's application for naturalization was positively concluded, which gave him both Macedonian and Austrian citizenship.

After Parndorf's relegation to the Regionalliga Ost , a move to the Bulgarian top club CSKA Sofia was due in summer 2008 . Due to the unclear contract situation, Kurtiši, advised by former Austrian Bundesliga professional Max Hagmayr, returned to Austria and was signed by SC Magna Wiener Neustadt on September 22, 2008. In the summer, his contract with the Wiener Neustädtern expired and was no longer renewed.

In the summer of 2010, the Macedonian was signed by Al-Taawon ( Saudi Arabia ). Although he scored 4 goals in 13 appearances there, his contract was not extended in January 2011, after which he moved to Al-Shaab CSC in the United Arab Emirates .

On February 11, 2014 he signed again with his former club KF Shkëndija , but was released from his contract after new goals also 13 league appearances in July 2014 and then moved to Australia to Brisbane Roar , where he should replace Besart Berisha . After only one goal in nine appearances in the 2014/15 season , he was released from his contract in mid-January 2015 and remained without a club for over a month before he found a new employer in the Italian second division club Varese Calcio SSD at the end of February 2015 . At the club, which was already suffering from financial and sporting problems, he could not prevail as a center forward, was used as a substitute in only three league games and had to relegate the team to the Italian fifth division due to the pending license , where the one that had existed since 1910 Association was re-established.

The Macedonian-Austrian dual citizen also sat unused on the bench in three other second division games and switched to Italy's third division SS Matera Calcio during the summer break , a club that has also been founded several times in its history and is known for its financial problems. Kurtiši has been there to date (as of December 2, 2015) as a substitute for five appearances in the Lega Pro 2015/16 and has been on the bench five more times without being used. In a 1-1 draw against Foggia Calcio on October 3, 2015, he also scored his first goal for the club, with which he also took part in the first round of the Coppa Lega Pro of the 2015/16 season and was eliminated there against US Lecce .
