Meri Arabidze ( Georgian მერი არაბიძე ; at the World Chess Federation FIDE Meri Arabidze ; born February 25, 1994 in Samtredia , Imereti ) is a Georgian chess player . She has the title of Grand Master of Women (WGM), and since 2014 the title of International Master (IM).
Life
Meri Arabidze attended Samtredia Public School No. 3. She is studying at the Georgian Technical University in Tbilisi . She has been trained by Leko Arsenidze in Kutaisi since 2007 .
successes
Meri Arabidze won several youth world championships for girls (U10 2004, U12 2005 and U18 2011) as well as several European youth championships for girls (U10 2004, U12 2006 and U14 2008).
Since October 2009 she has held the title of International Women's Champion (WIM). She achieved the standards for this in July 2008 with over-fulfillment at the Sun Pawn A tournament in Illichivsk, Ukraine, and at the European individual championship in September 2009 in Saint Petersburg . At the 2011 European Championships in Tbilisi , where she defeated Maia Lomineishvili and Laura Rogule , among others , she achieved a double norm to receive the title of Grand Master of Women (WGM). She achieved another WGM standard at the Georgian individual championship for women in May 2012 in Anaklia (also an IM standard), in which she took second place. She was awarded the WGM title in September 2012. At the 1st quarter Presidential Board meeting of FIDE at the end of March 2014, Arabidze was awarded the title of International Master (IM) on the condition that she achieved an Elo rating of at least 2400. Arabidze already met this requirement in the next rating list in April 2014. She achieved the required standards at the Georgian Women's Championship in 2012, the European Women's Championship in Belgrade in 2013 and the 2014 European Championship in Yerevan . With Georgia, Arabidze took part in the 2015 Women's World Team Championship; she won with the team and achieved the best result on the third board in the individual ranking as well as the third best rating of all participants. She also took part in the European Women's Team Championships in 2013 and 2015, where she achieved third place with the team in 2015. In the Spanish team championship, Arabidze played for CA Solvay in 2019 .
