Rebecca Fairbanks is a well-known movie star. She constantly tries to empathize with the characters she plays through method acting . The actress has a nervous breakdown and is admitted to a clinic for a long time.

Fairbanks takes on the role of a 19th-century serial killer . The team travels to Romania , where the film is being shot. Fairbanks learns there that her former lover Jake Fields, who has meanwhile married Bethany, is playing the male lead. Tensions arise between the actress and her mother, who wants to control Fairbanks. Bethany, who is uncomfortable with meeting previous lovers again, creates further tension.

Bethany is found murdered one day. More murders follow; Circumstances indicate acts of a serial killer.
