history
The Metrorec consortium was founded in September 1982 by the Brazilian Ministry of Transport, still under the speech of Ferroviária Federal (Federal Railroad Network, RFFSA) and by Empresa Brasileira de Transportes Urbanos (Brazilian company for urban transport), which no longer exist today. Construction of the metro began in January 1983. In February 1984 the state-owned railway company Companhia Brasileira de Trens Urbanos (Brazilian company for urban trains, CBTU) was founded in Rio de Janeiro , into which Metrorec was integrated in January 1985.
The Recife Metro was founded on the basis of 2 lines, the Linha Centro (center line) and the Linha Sul (south line). The Trem Sul / Trem Diesel (Südzug / Dieselzug) line was added in 1988 .
The Linha do Centro trains, which depart from Recife station, connect the city center with Camaragibe and Jaboatão stations.
Metrorec also operates various bus routes that can be combined with the metro. These buses have connections from the train stations Recife, Joana Bezerra (Centro e Sul lines), Afogados, Barro, Cavaleiro, Jaboatão e Camaragibe (Linha Centro).
