Metrans is a Czech rail transport company (EVU) for goods transport that is wholly owned by the Hamburg-based HHLA .

The subsidiary METRANS Rail sro connects the seaports Rotterdam , Hamburg and Bremerhaven , Koper in intermodal traffic with the hinterland (southern Germany, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Austria). The company's home station is the Uhříněves container terminal in the Czech Republic. Further terminals of its own are located in Lípa nad Dřevnicí near Zlín , Nýřany near Pilsen , Šenov near Ostrava and Česká Třebová (all in the Czech Republic), Dunajská Streda and Košice (Slovakia) and in Krems an der Donau (Austria).

Another terminal was built in Budapest in 2015 and has been in operation since January 2017.

At the end of 2018, close cooperation was agreed with the Russian rail logistics company Transcontainer , in which the Russian state railway RZD holds a 50% stake. Transcontainer has 24,000 wagons and 67,000  containers .

Rolling stock

Metrans owns 43 series 186 (Bombardier TRAXX) and 9 189 ( Siemens Eurosprinter ) electric locomotives , 9  Siemens Eurorunner diesel locomotives and 12  shunting locomotives . Metrans also owns 2500 freight cars .

From autumn 2019 to spring 2020, ten Vectron MS electric locomotives will be delivered to Metrans by Siemens Mobility from the Munich-Allach plant. These multi-system locomotives with the class number 383 are approved for use in Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. Subsequent upgrades also allow possible use in the Netherlands, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia.
