Mezitli is one of four urban districts of the city of Mersin and at the same time a district of the province of Mersin in southern Turkey . The district is in the east of the province. In 1968 the mayor's office was founded in Mezitli. At that time Mezitli was still outside the city of Mersin, but was soon incorporated into the city due to Mersin's rapid growth. In 2008 the central district of Mersin was divided into four new districts. In addition to the city of Mezitli, there were two other municipalities and 15 villages . Since a regional reform in 2014, the district has been identical in terms of population and area to the municipality of Mezitli, all other municipalities and villages are districts of the district town.
