Michaël Madionis Mateo Maria (born January 31, 1995 in Kerkrade , Netherlands ) is a Dutch football player . He is under contract with Adelaide United and is an international for Curaçao .
Club career
Maria started playing football in the youth of the Dutch club VV Internos , for which he played until 2003. He then moved to the youth team at PSV Eindhoven and was active there for a total of ten years before moving to the youth team at Vitesse Arnheim . During the winter break of the 2013/14 game round, Maria went from Arnhem's U-19 to Germany to join VfL Bochum's U-19 . In the summer of 2014 he was transferred to Bochum's second team, for which he scored two goals in 19 regional league appearances. On February 21, 2015, he was part of the Bochum professional team's matchday squad for the first time in the game against Karlsruher SC . After a season with the professionals of Vfl Bochum, in which Maria played a total of nine games, he left the club in summer 2016. Maria found a new club at the end of October 2016 with third division club SG Sonnenhof Großaspach . On May 30, 2017, second division club FC Erzgebirge Aue signed Michaël Maria for two years. After only one second division game in the first half of the season, he dissolved his contract in January 2018 and moved to the Dutch Eredivisie for FC Twente Enschede .
National team
Michaël Maria played in the U-20 national team of Curaçaos. On March 27, 2015, he made his debut in the senior national team . There he came on as a substitute for Papito Merencia in the 65th minute of the qualifying game for the 2018 World Cup in Russia against Montserrat . In 2017, Curaçao qualified for the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the first time . Maria was on the pitch in all three preliminary round matches.
