Registered at the time as a trainee with the Blackburn Rovers , he also came for the national team in a 3-2 win over Ireland at Ewood Park - his club's home ground - on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the school football associations in Blackburn and Darwen on duty.

In 1998, Bingham signed a professional contract, but he was not granted a competitive game for the professional team. In 2001 he left the club on a free transfer and moved to fourth division Mansfield Town after he had noticed in a test match for the reserve of Chesterfield FC in Field Mill , the stadium of Mansfield, whose coach Billy Dearden had noticed. At Mansfield, Bingham was in competition with the more experienced Kevin Pilkington and was a substitute goalkeeper for most of the season when Mansfield was third in the table and was promoted to the Second Division . He made his competitive debut on October 30, 2001 in a game of the Football League Trophy against FC Blackpool (0: 4). In the further course of the season, two appearances in the league followed, which came about through a red card suspension from Pilkingtons. while his first action in his debut game on March 16, 2002 against Swansea City (final score 0: 2) after being sent off for Pilkington to get the penalty converted by Steve Watkin from the goal net. After he was still used in preparation for the 2002/03 season, the club officials informed him in mid-August 2002 that he could leave the club free of charge. According to coach Stuart Watkiss , the decision was "purely financial." In November 2002, he finally left the club after his contract was paid off.

In the same month he made his debut in the Southern Football League for Hednesford Town and played 24 competitive games for the club in the further course of the season. In July 2003 he played for Accrington Stanley and Southport FC before a contract was not concluded. In January 2004 he joined Burscough FC , playing in the Northern Premier League ; in the summer of 2004 he went to league rivals FC Chorley . After another brief stint at Burscough in spring 2005, he played from summer 2005 for FC Bamber Bridge , also in the Northern Premier League.
