Michael William "Mike" Gebhardt (born November 25, 1965 in Columbus ) is a former American windsurfer .

successes

Michael Gebhardt, who works for the Ft. Walton Yacht Club started, took part in the Olympic Games four times . In 1988 he took third place in the Lechner A-390 boat class in Seoul behind Bruce Kendall and Jan Boersma with 48 points, with which he won the bronze medal. Four years later he won the silver medal in Barcelona behind Franck David and ahead of Lars Kleppich in second place. With a total score of 71.1 points, he was just behind David, who got 70.7 points. The decisive factor was David's victory in the final tenth race, in which Gebhardt was only third. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta he was sixth in the boat class Mistral , and when he last participated in the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , he finished the windsurfing competitions in tenth place. At world championships , his greatest success was third place in 1993 in Kashiwazaki . As early as 1987, he secured the gold medal at the Pan-American Games in Indianapolis . He collected further medals in 1995 in Mar del Plata with silver and in 1999 in Winnipeg with bronze.
