Michael Gergen (born February 17, 1987 in Hastings , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Bakersfield Condors in the ECHL since December 2010 .

Career

Michael Gergen initially played for the Shattuck St. Mary’s ice hockey team in the United States' high school league system from 2004 to 2005 . The American continued his career as a hockey player in the team of the University of Minnesota Duluth , for which he was active from 2005 to 2009 in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . Previously, he had already been selected as a junior player in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft in the second round as the 61st player in total by the Pittsburgh Penguins , for which he never played. Instead, the attacker moved to EC Red Bull Salzburg from the Austrian Ice Hockey League in summer 2009 , for which he made his professional ice hockey debut in the 2009/10 season. At the end of the season, Gergen won the Austrian championship with the Salzburg team . In October 2010 he returned to his homeland and received a contract with the Utah Grizzlies in the ECHL . For this he came to 19 missions and scored seven points before his contract was terminated two months later. The attacker was then committed by the Bakersfield Condors , for whom he took part in the ECHL All-Star Game in January 2011 .
