Michael Grass the Elder
Michael Grass the Elder (also Michael Grassus ; * 1541 in Treptow in Pomerania, † January 4, 1595 in Rostock ) was a German lawyer.
Life
Grass studied at the universities in Leipzig , Wittenberg , Frankfurt (Oder) , Greifswald and Rostock . In Rostock he received his doctorate in law in 1569 , was admitted to the law faculty in 1575 and began teaching canon law in 1580 . In 1581 he was given the vacant professorship of the Codex by Lorenz Kirchhoff , in which function he held the rectorate of the academy in 1586 and served as ducal councilor and chancellor. His wife, 10 children, and 101-year-old mother survived him.
