Michael Junker (born September 2, 1968 in Lobenstein ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Athletic career

Club career

Michael Junker made his debut in the 1989/90 turnaround season in the top division of GDR football at FC Carl Zeiss Jena . Thanks to the possibility of a guest permit for senior league team members in the second-class league created by the DFV , the 1.81-meter-tall midfielder was initially able to compete at BSG Motor Suhl in 1989/90 after his return to FCC from BSG Jenaer Glaswerk before his personal promotion to the Acquire the East German elite league.

In the last independent season of East German first division football , he helped in eleven games (one goal) so that the Zeiss footballers could qualify directly for the first season of the all-German 2nd Bundesliga . In the 2nd Bundesliga , however, Junker was no longer used and he ended his professional career in the summer of 1992 at the age of only 23.

Selection bets

With the GDR junior selection, he achieved second place in the youth friendship competition in North Korea in 1986 .

Coaching career

He also remained connected to his home club FC Carl Zeiss Jena as a coach, coaching the 2nd team from 2004 to 2011. Michael Junker was later also responsible for the U-19s as an assistant coach at the Ernst Abbe sports field . Since 2012 he has been in charge of the 1st team of SC 1903 Weimar in the Thuringian League .
