Michael Kügler (born September 3, 1981 in Olpe ) is a German football player . The midfielder has played in the district league since 2018. Between 2002 and 2004 he played a number of Bundesliga games for 1. FC Nürnberg .

Career

After a very successful youth football career at SpVg Olpe, Kügler was discovered by player scouts from BV Borussia Dortmund in 1995 and brought into the youth department of the Dortmund club. With the B-Juniors he won the German championship in 1998 . As development progressed, he was appointed to the A-squad of the Bundesliga team. He acted as an attacking midfielder but was only substituted on once.

In the summer of 2002 Michael Kügler moved to 1. FC Nürnberg on a free transfer . Due to poor performance and frequent injuries, he was used very rarely, so that he only played two games in the 1st Bundesliga ( 2002/03 season ) and one game in the 2nd Bundesliga ( 2003/04 season ) for 1. FCN. completed. Again, he was used as an attacking midfielder. Two years later he again moved to VfL Osnabrück in the Regionalliga Nord on a free transfer . He played 59 league games and two DFB Cup games. From the 2006/07 season he was under contract with Dynamo Dresden . Initially, however, he was hardly used there because of severe knee injuries. On August 28, 2009, the contract with Dynamo Dresden, which originally ran until the end of June 2010, was terminated by mutual agreement. Kügler then switched to Sportfreunde Lotte .

On June 15, 2010 Kügler moved to the Westfalenliga promoted 1. FC Kaan-Marienborn , not far from his hometown Olpe. He played there for a total of six years before moving to SV Ottfingen in the district league of Westphalia in the summer of 2016 . He was relegated with his team at the end of the 2016/17 season. Since 2018 he has played for his home club SV Dahl-Friedrichsthal in the district league of the district of Olpe .
