Michael Sablatnik (born March 19, 1986 ) is a former Austrian ski racer . He was Junior World Champion in Super-G in 2006 and won the silver medal in the downhill at the Universiade 2009.
Career
Sablatnik graduated from the Stams Ski School and started for SV St. Johann Rosental in Carinthia . From 2003 to 2007 he was in the B-team of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV), then in the regional team A of the Carinthian Ski Association. In 2001 Sablatnik became Austrian student champion in giant slalom in his age group and in 2003 Austrian youth champion in this discipline. He contested his first FIS race in November 2001 and celebrated three victories in this class. From January 2005 he was also at the start in the European Cup , where his best results achieved a 13th place in the Super-G in Bad Kleinkirchheim - his first European Cup start - and a further 13th place at the Sella Nevea in the same season .
His greatest success came in 2006 at the Junior World Championship in the Canadian province of Québec by winning the gold medal in the Super-G. This result enabled him to start in the Super-G at the 2006 World Cup finals in Åre , where he finished 19th. He did not take part in any other World Cup races. In February 2009 the student of applied business administration at the University of Klagenfurt won the silver medal in the downhill at the Universiade in China . After 2009, Sablatnik did not take part in any competitions.
