Michael Scholten

Michael Scholten (born December 13, 1971 in Bocholt ) is a German journalist and writer.

Michael Scholten comes from a family of millers and grew up in Rees . From 1992 he studied at the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster , where he completed his studies in 1997 with a thesis on " Aldous-Huxley's years in Hollywood" as a Magister Artium. He also studied at the University of California in Los Angeles . At the same time he was already working as a freelance journalist, including for the Rheinische Post . From 1999 to 2007 he worked as a reporter for TV feature films and for ten years as a writer for the website of Wetten, dass ..? . From 2003 to 2010 he was a member of the jury for the German Comedy Prize , in 2007 he was a member of the jury of the German Television Prize and was a juror for the Emil Children's Television Prize . From 2007 to 2008 he traveled around the world through forty countries. He self- published his first book about his trip around the world in 2009 , followed by several titles about films, television and locations since 2012. He lived in Cambodia for five years . He worked as a freelance journalist and author, a. a. for Spiegel Online , Bild am Sonntag and WDR and writes press brochures for German film distributors. Since 2014 he has been a member of the jury for the Tom Sawyer Prize in his hometown of Rees and is a board member of the Rees history association "Ressa".
