Michael Schrodi (born July 3, 1977 in Munich - Pasing ) is a German politician. As a member of the SPD , he has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

education and profession

Michael Schrodi lived after his birth in Gröbenzell in Munich . From 1984 he attended the elementary school on Bernhard-Rößner-Straße and from 1988 the grammar school Gröbenzell. He left the grammar school after the 10th grade with the middle school leaving certificate. In 1996 he began an apprenticeship as a businessman in wholesale and foreign trade , which he completed in February 1999. He completed his 13-month community service until June 2000 in the handicapped driving service of the Malteser Hilfsdienst Gröbenzell. He promoted both mentally and physically handicapped people to the appropriate facilities as well as older people and people in need. From September 2000 he attended the vocational high schoolMunich with a focus on social affairs. In two years he obtained the technical college entrance qualification in 2001 and the general university entrance qualification a year later.

Michael Schrodi then started studying to become a high school teacher in the subject combination of German and history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . After the first state examination, he was accepted into the school service in 2007. During this time he worked as a trainee lawyer at the Josef-Effner-Gymnasium Dachau for one year . From the second state examination in February 2009 until his election as a member of the Bundestag in September 2017, he taught German, history and social studies at the Viscardi-Gymnasium in Fürstenfeldbruck .

Private

Michael Schrodi started playing football when he was still at primary school. At the age of 18, he ended up with FC Pipinsried via the stations SV Lochhausen, FC Bayern Munich and SC Olching . From there he moved to SC Fürstenfeldbruck after two years and played for this and FC Ismaning a total of nine years in the state and Bayern leagues . During his time at FC Ismaning, Schrodi was also used in the DFB Cup game against Borussia Dortmund . Michael Schrodi plays for the FC Bundestag .

Michael Schrodi has been married to his wife Simone since July 2006. In 2011 son Oskar was born and in 2014 daughter Emma was born. Michael Schrodi has lived in Olching with his family since then .

Michael Schrodi has been a member of the SPD since 1997. Michael Schrodi received a scholarship from the SPD-affiliated Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung during his studies . When he started teaching, he joined the GEW . Politically, he was active in various regional functions at the Jusos , the youth organization of the SPD, and in local politics: as a local councilor in Gröbenzell (2003 to 2012), district councilor in the Fürstenfeldbruck district (since 2010) and city councilor in Olching (2014 to 2015).

Schrodi describes himself as a democratic socialist . The main focus of his political commitment lies in working against right-wing extremism and in the area of social policy . In particular, he worked on numerous concepts to promote affordable housing, equality for women, fair wages, fair education, secure pensions and local public transport. Sustainable energy supply is also one of his political topics.

In the 2017 federal election , Michael Schrodi was a direct candidate for the SPD in the Fürstenfeldbruck- Dachau federal constituency. He moved into the Bundestag at number 17 of the Bavarian SPD. In his constituency he got 18.7% of the first votes. The SPD's share of second votes was 13.7%.

In the Bundestag

In the Bundestag, Michael Schrodi is a full member of the Finance Committee and a member of the Committee on the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety . Within the SPD parliamentary group he is a member of the parliamentary left . Schrodi is also the financial policy spokesman for the SPD regional group in Bavaria, spokesman for the working group on distributive justice and social integration and a member of the local politics working group.

As a member of the Bundestag he sits down u. a. for the receipt of property tax as an important source of income for cities and municipalities, tax transparency for multinational companies and financial support for families. He is also committed to a socially acceptable exit from coal and forest protection.

According to Spiegel Online , the sales tax cut as part of the economic stimulus package adopted in June 2020 was largely based on a position paper of the SPD written by Michael Schrodi together with Lothar Binding .
