Michael Tauson (born June 25, 1966 in Copenhagen ) is a former Danish tennis player .

Life

Tauson mainly played on the ATP Challenger Tour . In 1988 he won the double title at the side of Morten Christensen at the Challenger tournament in Hanko , the following year he won the Challenger tournaments in Croydon and Telford as a qualifier and was in the final in Heilbronn , where he was defeated by Michael Stich in the final . In 1990 he reached the semifinals of the ATP tournament in Rotterdam , where he was finally defeated by Brad Gilbert after victories over Michiel Schapers , Paul Haarhuis and Magnus Gustafsson . His best double result on the ATP World Tour was a semi-final in doubles at the Swedish Open . He reached his highest ranking in the tennis world rankings in 1990 with position 101 in singles and in 1987 position 118 in doubles.

His best individual result in a Grand Slam tournament was the second round participation at the French Open in 1989, two years earlier he had also reached the second round at the French Open in doubles.

Tauson completed 25 singles and five doubles games for the Danish Davis Cup team between 1985 and 1991 . He achieved individual victories against Horst Skoff , Thomas Muster and Emilio Sánchez Vicario . His greatest success with the team was participation in the quarterfinals of the world group, which was lost 0-5 to Germany , where he gave both singles against Eric Jelen and Boris Becker and also the doubles at Michael Mortensen's side . He appeared at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul in both singles and doubles for Denmark. At the side of Morten Christensen he reached the quarterfinals, but they were defeated there by the later gold medalists Ken Flach and Robert Seguso from the United States . In the singles he was defeated in the first round against Brad Gilbert .
