Michael Wetzel (historian)

Michael Wetzel (born May 8, 1975 in Schlema ) is a German historian who primarily deals with the history of Saxony .

Life

After completing his Abitur at a grammar school in Aue , Wetzel studied history, philosophy and intercultural communication at the TU Chemnitz from 1995 to 2000 . In addition, he devoted himself to African history during a stay abroad at the University of Zimbabwe in Harare . A study on the schönburgische Office Hartenstein he was in 2003 at the Technical University Chemnitz with Reiner United Dr. phil. PhD . As a historian, he primarily devotes himself to regional history topics with a focus on the history of the Ore Mountains and the history of the church. He is involved in projects such as the Saxon Biography or the Atlas on the History and Regional Studies of Saxony and is a member of the editorial boards of the Erzgebirge and Saxon Homeland Papers .

As a lay preacher, Wetzel is the pastor of the Evangelical Methodist parish in Zwönitztal. He is in charge of the magazine EmK Geschichte. Source study reports of the study group for history of the UMC and is committed to the Albania aid of the Christian aid organization Wismar e. V.

He lives in Zwönitz .
