Michael Wiwchar CSsR (born May 9, 1932 in Komarno , Manitoba ) is a Canadian clergyman of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church and former Bishop of Saskatoon .

Life

Michael Wiwchar joined the Congregation of the Redemptorists in and received on 28 June 1959, the priestly ordination . Pope John Paul II named him Bishop of Saint Nicolas of Chicago on July 2, 1993 .

The Archbishop of Philadelphia , Stephen Sulyk , ordained him episcopal on September 28 of that year ; Co- consecrators were Michael Bzdel CSsR, Archbishop of Winnipeg , and Innocent Hilarion Lotocky OSBM , Bishop Emeritus of Saint Nicolas of Chicago.

On November 20, 2000, he was named Bishop of Saskatoon . He was named Apostolic Administrator of Saint Nicolas of Chicago on December 9, 2000 and resigned from his office on March 25, 2003. On May 2, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related retirement.
