Michalis Sifakis ( Greek Μιχάλης Σηφάκης , born September 9, 1984 in Heraklion ) is a Greek football goalkeeper .

Career

society

Michalis Sifakis began his professional career at OFI Crete , where he was brought into the first team in 2003 and spent another five years. When he was only 22 at the time, he was named team captain. After almost eighty games for Crete, he moved to Olympiacos in 2007 . He stood there in the shadow of the experienced Antonios Nikopolidis , was mostly only a substitute goalkeeper, but won his first title with the championship, the cup win and the win of the Greek Super Cup. To develop further and get more playing time, 1.86 m tall goalkeeper Aris Thessaloniki joined, where he stood between the posts from 2008 to 2012. This was followed by further positions at Sporting Charleroi , Atromitos Athens , Levadiakos and KV Kortrijk . In the summer of 2017 he moved to the Turkish second division team Samsunspor . A year later, his contract was not renewed and the goalkeeper has been without a new club since then.

National team

At the international level, the goalkeeper made 15 appearances in his country's U-21 team from 2005 onwards. However, he had to wait until 2009 before Otto Rehhagel called him to the senior national team, and he played his first international match on October 14 in the qualifying match for the 2010 World Cup against Luxembourg. He qualified for the World Cup with Greece and was the third goalkeeper in the World Cup. Until 2012 he played a total of 15 international matches.
