Michel de Ligne
Michel Charles Eugène Marie Lamoral, Prince de Ligne (born May 26, 1951 at Belœil Castle , Belgium), Prince of Ligne, Épinoy and Amblise and Grande of Spain, is the son of Antoine, 13th Prince de Ligne and Princess Alix of Luxembourg . He is also the nephew of Jean, Grand Duke of Luxembourg and a cousin of Grand Duke Henri . As head of the House of Ligne , he bears the title of Prince de Ligne . He is also a Knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece .
Life
education and profession
Michel de Ligne is a trained paratrooper and helicopter pilot and worked for the Para Commando Brigade of the Belgian Army .
At the age of 17 he took part in the first international parachute jump meeting in Bad Mondorf . He was the youngest Belgian paratrooper at the time of the meeting and had 15 parachute jumps on site.
He later embarked on a career in business, helping his father manage Belœil Castle. Since the death of his father he has devoted himself full-time to the administration of the castle. He is also the patron of a marathon, half marathon and 10 km run, which start and finish near the castle.
He is also a member of the Honorary Committee of the Royal Institute for the Deaf and Blind.
marriage and family
On March 10, 1981, he married Princess Eleonora of Orléans-Bragança , the daughter of Prince Pedro Henrique of Orléans-Braganza and Princess Maria Elisabeth of Bavaria, in Rio de Janeiro . From this marriage there were two children:
- Princess Alix Marie Isabelle Aldegonde Eléonore de Ligne (born July 3, 1984)
- Prince Henri Antoine Gabriël Wauthier Marie Lamoral de Ligne (born March 1, 1989).
