Life

Michael Innerkofler is considered to be one of the most important developers of the Dolomites , in particular the Sexten Dolomites , who had many first ascents and first ascents . He became particularly famous for the first ascent of the Kleiner Zinne in 1881 with his brother Hans Innerkofler , which was considered one of the most important tours of its time and a milestone in the development of climbing on steep rock. Only a month later, he led Demeter Diamantidi as the first tourist to the summit and climbed the Great and Western Peaks with him (and partly his brother Hans) on the same day. Among his other first ascents are the Zwölferkofel (1874), the Elferkofel (1878), the Westliche Zinne (1879) and the Grohmannspitze (1880 single-handedly). He also opened up several new climbs on Monte Cristallo, which he climbed more than 300 times. In 1888 he was killed there by falling into a crevasse .
