action

David is a business consultant, middle-aged and unsure how to go on in his life. He has long since lost enthusiasm for his job. On a business trip to New York City, he meets his ex-wife Vicki again, with whom he falls in love again. When he visits her and finds things in her attic that convince him that Vicki is still living with her ex-boyfriend, the two of them quarrel. They argue for the rest of the evening, but drink a lot of alcohol together. Then they go to a hotel, in whose room they make up again and talk about the past time. David returns home in Los Angeles . There he doesn't get along at all with his boss and his daughter. His daughter is in an institution, and when he visits her, he also meets his ex-wife Melody again. David tries to rearrange his life. When Vicki flies to Los Angeles to want to be with him, David has to make two decisions. On the one hand which woman he would like to be with, on the other hand what his life should look like in the future.

background

The film was shot in Los Angeles and New York. It was important to Travis that the setting and the plot maintain a natural style. Travis was inspired by the works of John Cassavetes and Robert Altman . With Midlife he wanted to refresh a topic about a phase of life that often occurs today but is still poorly understood.

In 2014 the film was nominated in five categories at the Action on Film International Film Festival .
