Midlothian was a constituency for the Scottish Parliament . It was founded in 1999 as one of nine constituencies of the election region Lothians introduced. In the course of the revision in 2011, the constituencies were redesigned and the Midlothian constituency was abolished. The areas went largely to the new constituencies Midlothian North and Musselburgh and Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale . It comprised the northern part of the Midlothian Council Area and dispatched one MP. In the 2001 census survey, a total of 64,050 people lived within its borders.
