Miha Štebih (born April 7, 1992 in Maribor ) is a Slovenian ice hockey player who has been under contract with HC Dukla Jihlava in the first division , the second highest Czech division, since 2018 .

Career

Miha Štebih began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HDK Maribor , where he was active until 2008. The defender then moved to Sweden, where he played in the youth division of the Malmö Redhawks and Grums IK . In Grums, he also gained experience in the adult sector , when he was used in the men's team of the club in the fourth-class Division 2 . After two years in Scandinavia, he was drawn across the pond to the North American Hockey League in 2010 , where he was on the ice at the Wichita Falls Wildcats . But after only one year there he returned to Europe and spent the following season in the second team of EC Red Bull Salzburg . From 2012 he played at HC Dukla Jihlava in the first division , the second highest Czech division. After winning the 1st league with the club in 2016, he switched to league rivals HC Slavia Prague , which he left for HC Frydek-Mistek at the turn of the year , where he ended the season. Has been active for Villacher SV in the Austrian ice hockey league since 2017 . In 2018 he returned to Jihlava

International

For Slovenia , Štebih took part in the junior division of the U18 World Junior Championship in Division II in 2010 and the U20 World Junior Championship in Division I in 2011 and 2012 . In the senior division, he was in his country's squad for the first time at the 2014 Division I World Cup , when he and his team were promoted to the top division, in which he then played in 2015 . He also represented his colors in the successful qualification for the Olympic Winter Games in Pyeongchang 2018 .
