Mike Byrne
Michael William Byrne (* 6. February 1990 , Beaverton , Oregon ) is American drummer and was 2009-2014 member of the band The Smashing Pumpkins .
biography
Byrne grew up in Portland, a suburb of Beaverton, with his parents Eric and Chris Byrne and his sister Elise Byrne. The family has Irish roots. He started taking drum lessons at age twelve and later played in the local bands The Mercury Tree , Bearcubbin '! and Moses , Smell the Roses and the orchestra of his school, which he graduated in 2008. He later worked for McDonald’s to save money for college.
On August 17, 2009 he was announced as the new drummer for the Smashing Pumpkins. In 2011, Byrne was recognized as a drummer by Modern Drummer magazine in the up & coming category.
Byrne played on the 2012 Smashing Pumpkins album Oceania and on the tour that followed.
In June 2014, it was announced that Byrne had left the Smashing Pumkings. The previous weeks Tommy Lee , drummer of the band Mötley Crüe , was already on the drums when recording a new album by the Smashing Pumpkins.
