Siamese Dream is the second studio album by the American band The Smashing Pumpkins . It was released on July 27, 1993 and has been sold more than six million times worldwide.

During the recording of the album, there was massive conflict within the group. Billy Corgan probably also saw himself in competition with Kurt Cobain and his band Nirvana and wanted to bring out an album as successful as Nevermind , which, like Siamese Dream, was produced by Butch Vig . He had a nervous breakdown and was considering killing himself. Corgan processed these thoughts mainly in the song Today .

The new edition as a deluxe edition received a metascore of 96%, based on 21 professional reviews. Pitchfork Media and Allmusic, among others, gave the album full marks in retrospect.

In 1998 , Q magazine voted Siamese Dream 67th place in the vote for the best album of all time . In a survey by the German music magazine Visions in 2005, it was voted 47th out of 150 albums for eternity .
