Mikkel "Mix" morning star Pålssønn Diskerud (born October 2, 1990 in Oslo , Norway ) is an American - Norwegian soccer player. Since 2010 he has been a national player for the US national soccer team . He is under contract with Manchester City in England and plays on loan in Sweden with IFK Göteborg .

Birth and childhood

Diskerud was born and raised in Norway to a US mother and a Norwegian father. Nicknamed Mix by his mother, his running style as a toddler was similar to turning a mixer . In the US media it is therefore often referred to as Mix Diskerud . At his club New York City FC he wore his nickname on the shirt.

Career

Diskerud began his career as a footballer in the youth of Frigg Oslo FK . He was spotted by Stabæk Fotball during a tournament in Oslo and joined the club's youth team in 2005. At this time he attended the Oslo commercial high school , which includes a sports school. For the 2006 season he moved to the reserve team from Stabæk and gained his first experience in the 2nd divisjon, the third Norwegian league. He also played for the youth team with which he won the Norwegian youth championship in 2008.

He made his debut for the first team in May 2008 in the game against Vestfossen IF in the NM Cup . In 2009 he took part with the team in the La Manga Cup and scored a goal in the tournament. On the 2nd day of the 2009 season Diskerud made his league debut against SK Brann . He was substituted on ten minutes before the end of the game and scored the equalizer in the 84th minute. After he was used more and more often as a substitute in the 2009 season , he was an integral part of the team's starting lineup from the 2010 season . So he came to 30 missions in 2010, in which he scored four hits. In 2011 he also came to 30 missions.

At the beginning of 2012 Diskerud moved to the Belgian first division club KAA Gent on loan . In the league and in the play-offs, he was used in a total of five games. Diskerud returned to Stabæk on June 30, 2012 after the loan contract ended. In August he moved to Rosenborg Trondheim and came in the second half of the season on eleven missions in which he scored one goal. Rosenborg qualified for the Europa League ; Diskerud made five appearances in the competition.

On January 13, 2015, he signed a contract with New York City FC . In the team's first game on March 8, 2015 in the MLS against Orlando City (1-1), he scored the franchise's first goal in a league game. In March 2017 Diskerud moved to Sweden on loan to IFK Göteborg and finished the 2017 season in tenth place in the table.

Beginning in 2018, he left New York City FC final and moved to England to also to the City Football Group belonging to Manchester City was, however, re-awarded to IFK Gothenburg in February 2018th

National team

Because of his American mother, Diskerud had the choice between Norway and the USA in national team football . In April 2008, he took part in a tournament with the US U-20 team and gave three assists in one game. A month later he played for the Norwegian U-18s against the USA. In 2009 he played for the Norwegian U-19 national team and was nominated for the US U-20.

On November 11, 2010 he was nominated by the then national coach Bob Bradley for the senior team of the USA , with which he played on November 17, 2010 against South Africa. He came on in the 79th minute and set up Juan Agudelo's winning goal . He was then not nominated for the national team for two years before Jürgen Klinsmann , who had replaced Bob Bradley in the summer of 2011, brought him back to the national team in November 2012 . Klinsmann offered Diskerud for the friendly against Russia on November 14, 2012 in Krasnodar . He came on in the 87th minute for Geoff Cameron and scored in the third minute of stoppage time to make it 2-2. On June 10, 2015, he scored the 1: 1 goal in a 2-1 win at Sportpark Müngersdorf in Cologne against world champions Germany .
