Milan Mölzer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Milan Mölzer (* 1937 in Prague ; † May 22, 1976 in Düsseldorf ) was a Czech pantomime and visual artist.

life and work

Milan Mölzer grew up in Czechoslovakia, graduated from the Technical University in Liberec and then worked as a typesetter . Mölzer studied pantomime with the dancer and choreographer Miloslav Lipinský and performed in various small theaters and cabarets .

From 1960 to 1961 Mölzer worked as a pantomime in the Divadlo Experiment in Pardubice , where Jiří Srnec discovered him and recruited him for the Theater Srnec , one of the first black light theaters in the world.

In 1968 Mölzer and his family emigrated to Germany. Milan Mölzer studied painting at the Düsseldorf Art Academy with Gerhard Hoehme , a representative of informal art . After Mölzer's death in 1976, his travel notebook and travel diary were shown at documenta 6 . These are works of optical poetry .

In both cases it is a matter of a kind of log of train journeys which, consisting of pencil or felt-tip pen lines drawn during the journey, manifest themselves in horizontal lines. The travel booklet documents a 3.5-hour train journey from Darmstadt to Cologne and the travel diary documents a train journey from Darmstadt to Düsseldorf via Mainz. The pulling motion determines the shape of the resulting line. Associations with the recordings of a vital signs monitor or a seismograph are obvious.
