Millennium Series
The Millennium Series (actually The Millennium - European Paintball Series ) or EPPC ( European Professional Paintball Circuit ) is the largest European paintball tournament series. It was founded in 2001. A game season lasts about a year and consists of five tournaments that take place in different locations in Europe.
Groupings
The teams in the Millennium Series are divided into groups according to their skills, all of which except the M5 group have 7 players per team.
CPL (Champions Paintball League)
In 2010 the best fourteen CPL teams and the best two SPL teams from last season play in the professional league of the Millennium Series. You play on M7 fields and only against other CPL teams.
SPL (Semi Professional League)
The SPL was introduced in 2007 as part of a restructuring. Here 32 semi-professional teams play for promotion to the CPL. You play on M7 fields and only against other SPL teams.
Division 1
Division 1 teams play on M7 fields against Division 1 teams.
Division 2
Division 2 teams play on M7 fields against division 2 teams.
Division 3
Division 3 teams play on M7 fields against Division 3 teams.
Division M5 (5-man league)
The 5-man league of the Millennium Series consisted of a maximum of 60 teams per tournament. The M5 teams played on M7 fields. This format has not been played in the series since 2012.
Playing fields
The playing fields are flat, rectangular areas in which coverings are set up in the form of various geometric shapes and letters. These must be at least 150 cm away from the edge of the playing field. There are also two flag stations at least 2 meters wide in the middle of the rear edge of the field. In the Millennium Series there were also 3 field types that differ in size and number of covers. Nowadays, however, it is only played on M7 fields. In 2011, the size of this field type was changed from 46 × 38 m to 46 × 36 m.
