The Molson Coors Beverage Company (January 1, 2020: MillerCoors ) is a subsidiary of Molson Coors , which runs the US operations of the Group.

history

MillerCoors was founded in 2008 as a joint venture between SABMiller and Molson Coors. The joint venture bundles the US brands of the two companies in order to better compete with the market leader AB-InBev . In September 2015, SABMiller announced that it would accept an offer to buy from AB-InBev. SABMiller then sold its shares (50% of the voting rights; 58% of the capital) for 12 billion US dollars to the cooperation partner MolsonCoors in October 2016.

Market position and structure

Molson Coors Beverage Company brews and markets its beers in the United States and Puerto Rico . This makes the brewery group the second largest brewery group in America with a 25 percent market share. Molson Coors Beverage Company operates seven major breweries and several craft breweries in the United States. The subsidiary Tenth and Blake Beer Company is responsible for the craft beer and imported beer segment within MillerCoors.

Brands

The main MillerCoors brands are Blue Moon, Coors, Coors Light, Leinenkugel, Miller and Miller Lite. The beers Cristal , Fosters , Grolsch , Lech, Pilsner Urquell and Tyskie are also imported.

Breweries

Albany Brewery

The brewery, which opened in Albany in 1979 , brewed around 11.7 million hectoliters in 2015. The 550 employees brew the Miller Lite, Coors Light, Coors Light Citrus Radler and Redd's Apple Ale brands there.

Eden Brewery

In 2015, around 8.3 million hectoliters of Miller Lite, Coors Light and Blue Moon seasonal beer were brewed in the brewery, which was founded in Eden in 1978 . 522 people are employed at the site. In September 2015 MillerCoors announced that it would close the brewery until September 2016. The Pabst Brewing Company , which brews its own brands in Eden, took legal action . The first 85 employees were laid off in June 2016, followed by a further 90 layoffs in August 2016. The brewery has since closed and the site was sold to a demolition company in January 2019.

Elkton Brewery

Founded in 1987, around 9.4 million hectoliters are brewed annually in the Shenandoah Valley. The 450 employees produce the brands Coors Light, Blue Moon Belgian White, Killian's Irish Red, Keystone and Keystone Light.

Fort Worth Brewery

A brewery has been operating in Fort Worth since 1966. In 2015, 545 employees produced around 10 million hectoliters of the Miller Lite, Miller High Life, Miller64, Miller Genuine Draft, Coors Light, Mickey's, Milwaukee's Best, Hamm's, Keystone Light, Olde English 800, Old Milwaukee, Steel Reserve Alloy Series, Foster's, Sparks, Third Shift, Redd's Apple Ale, and Fortune. The Fort Worth brewery was the first to produce Miller Lite.

Golden Brewery

The first Coors brewery was founded in Golden in 1873 . In 2015, 900 employees brewed around 15.2 million hectoliters of beer. The brands Blue Moon Belgian White, Coors Banquet, Coors Light, Killian's Irish Red, Icehouse, Keystone, Miller Genuine Draft, Miller High Life, Miller Lite and Steel Reserve are brewed in Golden.

Irwindale Brewery

Opened in Irwindale in 1980, 535 people today (2015) brew around 8.2 million hectoliters of Miller Lite, Coors Light, Miller High Life, Miller Genuine Draft, Keystone Light, Steel Reserve and Mickey's beer. In 2020, the Pabst Brewing Company announced their intention to buy the brewery. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Milwaukee Brewery

The Milwaukee Brewery

The brewery founded in Milwaukee in 1855 is the origin of Miller. Today (2015) 1230 people (600 in administration) work there and brew around 11.7 million hectoliters of the Miller Lite, Miller High Life, Miller Genuine Draft, Coors Light, Redd's Apple Ale and Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy brands.

Trenton Brewery

In 1991 the brewery opened in Trenton , Ohio . Volume produced in 2015: 12.9 million hectoliters. 510 employees brew the Miller Lite, Coors Light, Miller High Life and Third Shift brands.

Blue Moon Brewery

Blue Moon was founded in Denver in 1995 right next to Coors Field . In July 2016, a second brewery opened in the River North Art District.

Hop Valley Brewing

The brewery in Eugene was taken over by MillerCoors in July 2016.

Jacob Leinenkugel Brewery

Leinenkugels Brewery in Chippewa Falls

Leinenkugel operates a brewery in Chippewa Falls and one in Milwaukee .

Revolver Brewing

Revolver Brewing Company was founded in Granbury in 2012 . In August 2016 it was bought by MillerCoors.

Saint Archer Brewing

The Saint Archer Brewery in San Diego was acquired by MillerCoors in September 2015. The brewery brews around 41,000 hl of beer annually.

Terrapin Beer Company

In July 2016, MillerCoors acquired Terrapin Beer Co. , based in Athens .
