The Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) or Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi Malaysia (German: Ministry for Higher Education ) was a ministry of the State of Malaysia . Its tasks lay in educational policy and in particular the supervision of university operations.

After the elections to the Malaysian parliament, the ministry was merged with the former Ministry of Education to form the new Ministry of Education & Higher Learning Ministry; Malay Kementerian Pelajaran dan Pengajian Tinggi . At the suggestion of the minister, however, the name for the joint ministry was renamed "Ministry of Education" (Ministry of Education or Kementerian Pendidikan) a short time later.

The Ministry of Higher Education has been fully integrated into the new Ministry of Education in terms of its tasks and staffing .

The ministry was based in the Putrajaya administrative center south of the capital Kuala Lumpur .

history

The Ministry of Higher Education was established on March 27, 2004. Even before the Malaya Federation became independent, a Ministry of Education was set up in the first cabinet of Prime Minister Tunku Abdul Rahman on July 27, 1955 , to which Tun Razak was appointed. This Ministry ( Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia , German: Ministry of Education) was comprehensively responsible for everything that had to do with education. It was not until 2004 that the interests of tertiary education were separated and outsourced to the newly created Ministry for Higher Education .

When the new cabinet was formed after the parliamentary elections for the 13th Malaysian Parliament on May 5, 2013, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Higher Education were merged to form the new Ministry of Education and Higher Learning.

The range of tasks included all aspects of tertiary education with regard to universities, polytechnic colleges and colleges that are publicly or privately sponsored. The ministry was divided into three main departments, each dedicated to a specific aspect of tertiary education:
