Minnesota Lake is a city on the border of Blue Earth County and Faribault County in the US state of Minnesota . In 2000 the place had 681 inhabitants. Minnesota Lake was originally named Marples in 1858, after one of its early white settlers. The name was changed to Minnesota Lake in 1866.

Most of the metropolitan area is in Faribault County, only a small portion extends into Blue Earth County. The place itself is on the eastern shore of the lake of the same name .

According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has an area of ​​5.4  km² , of which 4.1 km² is land and 1.3 km² (= 23.67%) is water.

Minnesota State Route 22 is the main road through town. The Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul and Pacific Railroad ran parallel to this, but this no longer exists in this area.

Demographics

At the time of the United States Census 2000, Minnesota Lake was inhabited by 681 people. The population density was 166.4 people per km ². There were 316 housing units at an average of 77.2 per km ². The Minnesota Lakes population was 99.56% white , 0.15% black or African American, and 0.29% named two or more races. 0.59% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.

The residents of Minnesota Lakes distributed to 297 households out of which 29.3% were living in children under 18 years of age. 58.6% of households were married, 3.7% had a female head of household without a husband, and 33.7% were not families. 31.0% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 20.2% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.86 people.

The population was divided into 24.2% minors, 7.6% 18–24 year olds, 26.9% 25–44 year olds, 21.6% 45–64 year olds and 19.7% aged 65 years or more. The average age was 40 years. For every 100 women there were 105.1 men. For every 100 women over 18, there were 100.8 men.
