Minster is a village in Auglaize County ( Ohio ) in the United States . The population in 2000 was just under 2,800. North of Minster is the village of New Bremen , south of it is Fort Loramie , which already belongs to neighboring Shelby County . The world's largest yoghurt plant operated by Danone is located in Minster . 400 people are employed here.
The place was founded in 1832 under the name Stallostown (after the founder Francis Stallo) and was renamed Minster in 1836. The place was initially settled mainly by German immigrants of the Catholic faith who came to Minster via the Miami-Erie Canal and who settled as farmers . Oktoberfest is still celebrated in Minster today , and the town is predominantly Roman Catholic; the the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Cincinnati belonging St. Augustine Catholic Church is in the National Register of Historic Places entered.
