Mira Loma was a census-designated place in Riverside County in the US state of California , United States , with 21,930 inhabitants (as of 2010 ). The geographical coordinates are: 33.98 ° North, 117.51 ° West. The urban area has a size of 21.107 km².

Until November 1, 1930, the place was called Wineville . The name was changed due to negative headlines about the Wineville Chicken murders after resident Gordon Stewart Northcott was convicted of abducting, abusing, torturing and murdering several young boys with the help of his mother, and was later hanged for them. In his film Changeling ( The Stranger Son ), Clint Eastwood addressed part of the events in which he focused on the story of one of the (possible, ultimately never found) victims, nine-year-old Walter Collins and his mother Christine.

On July 1, 2011, Mira Loma was merged with Glen Avon , Pedley , Rubidoux and Sunnyslope to form the town of Jurupa Valley .
