Rubidoux [ ˈruːbɨdoʊ ] was a census-designated place in Riverside County in the US state of California , United States . The place is located directly on Mount Rubidoux of the same name .

On July 1, 2011, Rubidoux was merged with Glen Avon , Mira Loma , Pedley and Sunnyslope to form the town of Jurupa Valley .

Rubidoux was in northwest Riverside County in California , USA . The place had 34,280 inhabitants (as of 2010) and expanded to an area of ​​25.757 km², of which 25.017 km² were land and 0.740 km² were water. In the south and east the place bordered on Riverside . The Mount Rubidoux is located east of Rubidoux on the opposite bank of the Santa Ana River .

history

The place name goes back to Louis Rubidoux , who settled in what is now Rubidoux in 1843. A descendant of French Canadians , Rubidoux's grandfather emigrated from Québec to St. Louis , Missouri , where he became a fur trader. When St. Louis became part of the United States in 1803 , Rubidoux and his brothers were granted US citizenship. Louis Rubidoux was also a Mexican because of his work as an alkali of Santa Fe , New Mexico . The place Rubidoux is now on the land that belonged to Rancho Jurupa, the farm of the Rubidoux family.

On March 8, 2011, the citizens of the census-designated places Mira Loma , Pedley , Rubidoux, Glen Avon and Sunnyslope decided with 54.03% yes-votes to merge their hometowns to form the new City of Jurupa Valley . The decision took effect on July 1, 2011.

Rubisoux was part of the 31st District in the California Senate , currently represented by Democrat Richard Roth, and the 66th District of the California State Assembly , represented by Democrat Al Muratsuchi.
